too busy taking photos
ongoing 2017 —
description
i spend a lot of time watching people engage with their surroundings. more so, in specific attempting to explore the relationship of what people decide to take photographs of. it's because as i document my life, it's fascinating how others document theirs. it was an attempt to understand why they choose in specific to photograph these moments— moments of utter rarity, moments of tranquility, moments of serenity. countless times i have witnessed people spend more time looking through their phones to capture these moments rather than severing the screens from themselves and truly being engulfed in the moment. yet— i realized i had fallen victim to the precise thing i was struggling to understand. this cyclical dimension of capturing them capturing something led to capturing the notion that it isn't something to ever be understood. it is solely something meant to be seen. in the process of documenting such events, i myself became the oxymoron of my own interpretation. |
